8. A Party?

The moment we stepped into our apartment, my sister and I dropped our shopping bags onto the floor and threw ourselves onto the couch with a loud thud.

"Oh my God," my sister groaned, sinking into the cushions. "My feet are officially dead."

I laughed and stretched my legs. "You were the one who wanted to visit every single store in the mall."

"And it was worth it," she replied proudly.

The shopping bags lay scattered across the living room floor while we sat there, enjoying the comfort of being home. After a few minutes of silence, my sister suddenly remembered something.

"Oh, by the way," she said, turning toward me. "The day after tomorrow, I'm going to a party."

I frowned slightly.

"A party?"

"Yeah."

"With whom?"

"My childhood friend."

I blinked.

"Your childhood friend... you mean Leela?"

My sister nodded.

"Yes."

I let out a dramatic groan and dropped my head against the back of the couch.

"Oh my God."

"What?" she asked innocently.

"You and Leela together?"

She burst out laughing.

I pointed a finger at her. "Both of you guys used to annoy me to the core."

"That's rude, but we will annoy you till we die."

The two of us laughed.

Then I narrowed my eyes.

"Wait. A party?"

"Yes."

"A club?"

The smile on my face immediately disappeared.

My sister sighed.

"Come on."

"No."

"Please."

I folded my arms.

"Absolutely not,Pihu."

She scooted closer and grabbed my hand.

"Listen to me. I won't have any drinks. I'll stay within my limits. I'll take care of myself."

I looked at her carefully.

"I don't know..." I murmured.

A strange feeling settled in my chest.

"I feel like something is going to happen."

My sister shook her head.

"Nothing is going to happen."

"You don't know that."

"Everything will be fine," she assured me. "I'll text you. I'll keep you updated. And I'll be back home by ten o'clock."

I stared at her for a moment.

She gave me a hopeful smile.

Finally, I sighed.

"Fine."

"Really?"

"Yes. But be careful."

"I will."

"And tell Leela to be careful too."

"I will."

"You call me if anything feels wrong."

"I promise."

Only then did I feel a little better.

After chatting for a while longer, exhaustion finally caught up with us.

My sister stood up and picked up her bags.

"Good night,Akka (Sister)."

"Good night,Sweetie."

We headed in different directions, each toward our own bedroom.

After changing into comfortable clothes, I slipped beneath my blanket and turned off the lights.

The room fell quiet.

But as I lay there staring at the ceiling, that strange feeling returned.

It felt as though someone was watching me.

Not in a frightening way.

Not in a way that made me feel unsafe.

Just... a presence.

A pair of eyes lingering somewhere in the back of my mind.

For some reason, those eyes felt familiar.

Hazel-green eyes.

The memory flashed through my thoughts before I could stop it.

I frowned at myself and turned onto my side.

"Why am I even thinking about that?" I whispered.

Yet the feeling remained.

As though someone, somewhere, was quietly watching over me.

Strangely, I felt no harm from it.

No fear.

Only a curious warmth that I couldn't explain.

With that thought lingering in my heart, my eyes slowly closed, and before long, sleep claimed me.
